DAY 1: HOME - FORT-DE-FRANCE

  • Welcome: Board your flight from home and arrive in Fort-de-France, Martinique. Meet your Martinican Prometour Tour Director at the FDF arrivals area, along with your Tour Manager, who handles the behind-the-scenes details so your trip runs smoothly.
  • City Introduction: Board your motor coach and head to Fort-de-France for a brief introduction to the Martinique capital.
  • Lunch: On your own. Time and location to be determined by your Tour Director and Group Leader.
  • Grocery Stop: Stop at a local grocery store to pick up hotel snacks, a fun chance to practice your French (items not included).
  • Check-in: Continue to the hotel for check-in and time to refresh.
  • Welcome Dinner: Enjoy a welcome dinner with your group at a local Chez le Resident restaurant while your Tour Director introduces Martinique's culture, history, and community context.
  • Overnight: Le Vauclin, southeastern Martinique. Example: Village de la Pointe Hotel or similar.

Les Anses d'ArletDay 2

DAY 2: ANSES-D'ARLET

  • Breakfast: Creole buffet breakfast at the hotel, then board your motor coach for a day of discovery.
  • La Savane des Esclaves: Visit a moving open-air museum recreating 400 years of Martinique's history, from Indigenous times through slavery to post-abolition life (guided).
  • Walking Tour: Take a walking tour of Les Anses d'Arlet, one of the most picturesque towns on the island (guided).
  • Shopping Stop: Quick stop at Le Marche in Man Jerome Hall, a small-town market with local produce, tropical fruits, vegetables, Madras fabric, and handicrafts (supervised free time).
  • Lunch: Lunch with your group at an authentic Creole restaurant.
  • Beach Time: Time for swimming at Anses d'Arlet Beach, known for its calm turquoise waters. Optional: go snorkeling and look for sea turtles (equipment provided).
  • Diamond Rock: On the way back, see Diamond Rock, a 600-foot basalt island known for its strategic military history (photo stop).
  • Cap 110: Stop at Cap 110, the Memorial de l'Anse Cafard, to learn about the meaning behind its striking sculptures (photo stop).
  • Dinner: Dinner with your group at a local restaurant.

Fort-de-France & Saint-PierreDay 3

DAY 3: FORT-DE-FRANCE - SAINT-PIERRE

  • Breakfast: Creole buffet breakfast at the hotel, then board your motor coach for the day.
  • Walking Tour: Walking tour of Fort-de-France: La Savane Park to hear the story of the Josephine Bonaparte statue, the Bibliotheque Schoelcher, and La Cathedrale Saint-Louis, two of the city's most iconic landmarks (guided).
  • Farmers' Market: Explore the bustling local farmers' market and interact with friendly vendors to experience the island's daily life (supervised free time).
  • Lunch: Lunch with your group at a local restaurant.
  • Mt. Pelee: Continue by motor coach with a view of Mt. Pelee, an active volcano and UNESCO World Heritage site.
  • Saint-Pierre: Walking tour of Saint-Pierre, the island's former capital, then visit the St. Pierre Museum to learn about its history (guided).
  • Dinner: Dinner with your group at a local restaurant.

Le Vauclin Fishing & Boat TourDay 4

DAY 4: LE VAUCLIN

  • Breakfast: Creole buffet breakfast at the hotel with your group.
  • Beach Walk: Learn about kite-surfing from your Tour Director on an easy walk along Pointe Faula beach into town. This shallow Atlantic beach is known for its excellent kite and windsurfing conditions.
  • Fishermen Workshops: Meet local fishermen in the Le Vauclin Fishing Area, then divide into 3 groups for a rotation of hands-on activities: a Fishing Net workshop on how to use, maintain, and repair nets; a Sargasse seaweed workshop on what it is and how to manage and transform it; and a Fishing Market workshop on fishing, selling, and handling fish.
  • Lunch: Sandwich lunch with your group in the port area of Le Vauclin.
  • Boat Tour: Afternoon boat tour with on-board music by local musicians, stops at the Fonds Blancs and cays, snorkeling, swimming, and beach time, with Accras de Morue snacks.
  • Dinner: Creole buffet dinner with your group at Mangrove Cay.
  • Overnight: Le Vauclin.

Farm, Tramil & WorkshopsDay 5

DAY 5: LE VAUCLIN

  • Breakfast: Creole buffet breakfast at the hotel, then board your motor coach for a new day of discovery.
  • Sustainable Farm: Meet a local farmer and learn about traditional and sustainable farming techniques while visiting their fully sustainable organic farm (guided).
  • Tramil Network: Discover how science, ancestral wisdom, and the arts intersect, with an introduction to the Tramil Network, an international research initiative that studies and documents medicinal plants and traditional Caribbean knowledge.
  • Workshop Choice: Divide into smaller groups and choose an activity: an Eco-service learning project with a garden walk and an introduction to ethnobotany and medicinal plants; a Cannelle (cinnamon) workshop exploring the cultural, historical, and ecological significance of the plant with hands-on harvesting and culinary methods; a Kalinago Arts workshop covering basketry, pottery, braiding, boatbuilding, and weaving with natural fibers such as aroman and cachibou; or a Cooking workshop on traditional dishes, methods, and equipment.
  • Lunch: Homemade lunch prepared with fresh produce grown on the farm.
  • Percussion & Dance: Participate in an Afro-Caribbean percussion and dance workshop to learn how music and dance relate to Martinique's culture and history.

DAY 6: LE VAUCLIN - HOME

  • Leisure: Morning at your leisure to prepare to return home or enjoy the pool.
  • Transfer: Transfer by motor coach to the airport and say a fond goodbye to your Prometour Tour Director.
  • Departure: Board your flight from Fort-de-France and fly home.
