START PLANNING

Day 1: Flight To Rome (Italy)

Board your transatlantic flight and fly through the night to Rome (Italy).

Day 2: Paestum – Pompeii

Benvenuti in Italia! Meet your Italian Prometour Tour Director upon arrival at the airport.

Board your motor coach and travel to Paestum.

Stop in the town Nemi; deriving from the Latin word “nemus”, or “holy wood”, its grove was the site of one of the most famous of Roman temples, ” Diana Nemorensis”.

Visit the Paestum Archaeological Site and Museum; see the amazing collection of artifacts and walk through the main road of the ancient city, exploring each of the three temples which survive; Temple of Hera, Temple of Neptune and Temple of Ceres.

Have time to explore this amazing ancient town of Paestum at your own pace.

Dinner with your group in a local restaurant.

Overnight accommodation in Pompeii.

Day 3: Pompeii

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel with your group.

Board your motor coach and travel to Pompeii, which was buried in meters of ash and pumice after the catastrophic eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 AD.

With a local guide, visit the ruins of Pompeii, a UNESCO World Heritage Site; the Forum Baths, Villa of the Mysteries, House of the Small Fountain & Garden of the Fugitives, to name just some of the highlights.

Stop in Oplontis to visit Poppaea’s Villa; owned by the Emperor Nero, and used by his second wife Poppaea Sabina as her main residence when not in Rome.

Take part in a pizza cooking class and learn how an authentic Italian pizza is made,  take care in what you’re doing, this is your meal!

Day 4: Pompeii – Herculaneum – Baiae – Rome

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel with your group.

Visit the Herculaneum Archaeological Excavations; according to legend, Herculaneum was founded by Hercules, as the originally-Greek city was dedicated to that god and called Herakles.

Stop at the volcanic region known as the Phlegraean Fields to see the impressive Campi Flegrei, “burning fields” in Italian.

Board your motor coach and travel to Rome, a sprawling, cosmopolitan city with years of globally influential art, architecture and culture on display.

While in Rome, travel as the locals do by walking, or taking public transport.

Day 5: Rome

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel with your group.

The creation of the Capitoline Museums can be traced back to 1471, when Pope Sixtus IV donated a group of bronze statues of great symbolic value to the people of Rome; have a guided visit of the collections.

Explore the most monumental elements of this majestic city with your local guide who will bring to life the spirit of Ancient Roman; the Colosseum, where gladiators once battled, the Roman Imperial Forum with focus on Roman mythology and a walk through the Roman Forum ending at the Palatine Hill.

Have some time to discover Rome at your own pace.

Day 6: Rome – Ostia Antica – Rome

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel with your group.

Board your bus and head out to Ostia Antica

Discover Ostia Antica, the harbor of ancient Rome; dive into a moment of Roman antiquity as you explore the ruins, including the Roman amphitheater and Necropolis of Isola Sacra.

Explore Rome’s Piazzas with your Prometour Tour Director; Piazza della Rotonda and the Pantheon, the Fountain of Four Rivers in Piazza Navona & historic Piazza del Popolo.

Have some time to discover Rome at your own pace.

Day 7: Rome – Vatican City – Rome

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel with your group.

With a local guide, visit St. Peter’s Basilica and the Vatican Museum including the Raphael Rooms, Tapestry Gallery & Sistine Chapel, then have time to discover St. Peter’s Square at your own pace.

Head to the Campo de’ Fiori; it has been a bustling focal point of Roman life since at least the middle ages and is where the Romans still gather to purchase fresh local produce at the morning market.

From the Gianicolo see the innumerable domes & bell towers that do the skyline of Rome.

Day 8: Rome – Civita Di Bagnoregio – Cerveteri – Rome

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel with your group.

Board your motor coach and travel to Civita di Bagnoregio.

Discover the charms of the hill top town of Civita di Bagnoregio, perhaps Italy’s best hidden gem.

Board your motor coach and continue on to Cerveteri.

Explore the Necropolis of Cerveteri, the most imposing in all Etruria; aided by the multimedia installations, wander the streets of this “city of the dead”, enter its houses and take a trip back in time.

Board your motor coach and return to Rome

DAY 9: Fly Back Home

Transfer by motor coach from your hotel to the airport.
