START PLANNING

Day 1: Travel to Paris

Board your transatlantic flight and fly through the night to France

Day 2: Paris – Duclair – Rouen

Bienvenue en France! Meet your French Prometour Tour Director upon arrival at the airport

Enjoy your packed lunch which includes one club sandwich (meat, veggie or tuna) crisps, fruit, cake & bottle of water.

Continue to Rouen, the capital of Lower Normandy and scene of the martyrdom of Joan of Arc.

Enter the Museum “août 1944 l’enfer sur la Seine”, dedicated to the Battle of Normandy; the museum is located in Duclair, near Rouen, in the stables of the castle Taillis.

With your Prometour Tour Director, explore the narrow streets of Vieux Rouen, lined with more than 800 timber-framed houses, and see Le Gros Horloge, Rouen Cathedral, Saint-Ouen Abbey Church, the Statue of Joan of Arc, to name a few.

Have dinner with your group in a local restaurant.

Day 3: Rouen – Dieppe – Fecamp – Tretat – Honfleur

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel with your group.

Along the way, stop in Dieppe.

Discover the Dieppe Beaches, site of the ill-fated 1942 raid and still dominated by the remains of German gun positions, see the Canadian landing sites.

Along the way, stop in Fecamp, famous for the liqueur based on a recipe created in 1510 by a Benedictine monk in a grimoire.

Built during the Second World War on the orders of the German army, the blockhouses of Cap Fagnet bear witness to the Atlantic Wall erected from 1942; explore the site and learn the role of this important detection station in the war.

Board your motor coach and continue on to Etretat.

Admire the Étretat Chalk Cliffs; with three natural arches and a pointed formation called L’Aiguille (the Needle) which rises 230 ft above the sea, it also the location of Queen Marie-Antoinette’s 18th Century oyster beds which can be seen at low tide.

Board your motor coach and continue on to the maritime city of Honfleur.

Explore Honfleur at your own pace, take a walk along the picturesque Vieux Bassin (old harbour), see the Eglise Sainte Catherine and much more.

Have dinner with your group in a local restaurant.

Day 4: Caen

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel with your group.

Continue on to Caen, known for its historical buildings built during the reign of William, who was buried there, and for the Battle of Caen.

Visit the Memorial de Caen, a museum and war memorial in Caen, Normandy, France commemorating the Second World War and the Battle for Caen.

Have lunch on your own.

Discover the Musée de Normandie, Museum of History and society, rich in important archaeological and ethnographic collections.

Visit of the Ardenne Abbey – Learn about what happened during the Battle of Normandy.

Have dinner with your group in a local restaurant.

Day 5: Caen – Arromanche – Colleville – Bayeux

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel with your group.

Along the way, stop in Arromanches.

Enter the D-Day Landing Museum, the first museum to be built in commemoration of June 6th, 1944 and the Normandy Campaign.

Step on the D-Day Beaches, the landing site for the invasion and liberation of Europe during World War II.

Visit the Coleville American Cemetry, a World War II cemetery, and memorial in Colleville-sur-Mer that honours American troops who died in Europe during World War II.

Lay a wreath of flowers on behalf of your group.

Board your motor coach and continue on to Bayeux, a destination that perfectly combines culture, heritage, dynamism and, modernity.

Visit the Tapestry of Bayeux; measuring 230 feet long, it depicts about 50 scenes of the events leading up to the Norman conquest of England.

Have dinner with your group in a local restaurant.

Day 6: Bayeux – Pointe Du Hoc – Sainte-Mere-Eglise – Paris

Breakfast at the hotel with your group.

Visit the Musée Memorial de la Bataille de la Normandie.

Visit the La Cambe German War Cemetery.

Stop at Pointe du Hoc, site of one of the boldest raids in history, which was a point of attack by the United States Army in World War II, many of the original fortifications have been left in place and the site is speckled with a number of bomb craters.

Follow you Tour Director on a discovery tour of Sainte-Mere-Eglise – where American paratroopers of the 82nd and 101st airborne divisions dropped into the town on the night of June 5th & 6th, 1944.

Board your motor coach and return to Paris.

While in Paris, travel as the locals do by walking or taking public transportation.

Enjoy dinner with your group at the famous Creperie Beaubourg.

Day 7: Paris

Breakfast at the hotel with your group.

Discover the Hôtel National des Invalides (known as les Invalides), the resting-place of Napoleon and home to the Musée de l’armée; les Invalides is a complex of buildings containing museums and monument such as the Cathedral of Saint-Louis des Invalides, the Dome des Invalides to name a few.

Walk through the Quartier Latin and see the Luxembourg Gardens, the Pantheon, the Sorbonne University and Eglise St-Sulpice.

Have lunch on your own.

Discover Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris and admire its rose window & French Gothic architecture, it’s as impressive inside as it is outside.

Discover Quartier Montmartre, known as “la Butte” and make sure to enter the Sacre Coeur Basilica.

Have an authentic French dinner at La Mere Catherine located in the heart of Quartier Montmartre.

Day 8: Paris

Breakfast at the hotel with your group.

Have a guided tour of the Opera Garnier, probably the most famous Opera house in the world, and known to be the inspiration for Leroux’s “The Phantom of the Opera”.

Have lunch on your own.

Explore Paris with your Prometour Tour Director; see Place de la Concorde, stroll along the Champs-Elysees, considered the most beautiful avenue in the world, and admire several French monuments including the Arc de Triomphe wherein lies the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

See the Arc de Triomphe and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Admire the architecture of Paris as you cruise along the River Seine on board a Bateau Mouche.

Get a bird’s eye view of Paris from the observation platforms of the Eiffel Tower (3rd floor access is included but subject to availability).

Look for the Wall for Peace Monument on the Champs de Mars, the word “peace” is inscribed in 32 languages and 12 alphabets. The Wall for Peace is freely inspired by the Wailing Wall of Jerusalem. Visitors can put their messages of peace in the chinks of the Wall that are planned for this purpose.

Day 9: Paris – fly home
