Visit Germany, Czech Republic and Poland: History Tour

DAY 1: HOME – GERMANY

Board your transatlantic flight and fly through the night to Germany.

DAY 2: BERLIN

Welcome to Germany! Meet your Prométour Tour Director upon arrival at the airport.

Transfer by bus to your hotel to drop off your luggage.

Visit the Topography of Terror – More than one million people visited the in 2014, making it one of the most frequently visited places of remembrance in Berlin. During the “Third Reich” the headquarters of the Secret State Police, the SS and the Reich Security Main Office were located at the site.

DAY 3: BERLIN

Breakfast at the hotel with your group.

Join your local guide for a tour of Berlin’s main sites – Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag Building, Potsdam Square, the Holocaust Memorial, the East Side Gallery, and of course the Berlin Wall.

Spend some time to explore the capital of Germany at your own pace! Enjoy the Tiergarten, Berlin’s main city park!

Enter the Museum at the Kulturbrauerei – a contemporary German history museum. The permanent exhibition focuses on everyday life in the German Democratic Republic.

Dinner with your group in a local restaurant.

DAY 4: BERLIN

Breakfast at the hotel with your group.

Board your bus and travel to Potsdam.

Enter the House of the Wannsee Conference – In 1942, leading figures in the Nazi government and SS meet here to discuss their so-called Final Solution to the Jewish Question. The exhibition in the House of the Wannsee Conference gives an insight into this criminal meeting, and how the plan was put into practice.

Cross Gliencke Bridge – it was used for the exchange of captured spies and became known as the Bridge of Spies.

Enjoy lunch on your own.

Enjoy some leisure time to see Postdam at your own pace. Wander through “Alter Markt” , the Old Market Square.

Guided visit of Cecilienhof Castle – Where the leaders of the Soviet Union, the United Kingdom and the United-States met in 1945 during the Potsdam Conference.

Return to Berlin.

Dinner with your group in a local restaurant.

DAY 5: BERLIN – DRESDEN – PRAGUE

Breakfast at the hotel with your group.

Board your bus and travel to Dresden.

Discover many of Dresden’s highlights on a discovery tour with your Tour Director, including the Dresden Frauenkirche, the symbol of the town.

Enjoy lunch on your own.

Continue on to Prague – known for its Old Town Square, the heart of its historic core.

Have dinner with your group in a local restaurant.

DAY 6: PRAGUE

Breakfast at the hotel with your group.

Meet your local guide for a visit of Prague – See the Royal Palace, Tyn Church, St-George Basilica and Golden Lane, which was once called Alchemists’ Alley.

See the Castle Prague, which is not a single structure but a collection of structures dating from the 10th to the 20th century.

Enjoy lunch on your own.

Explore the only central European Jewish Quarter with a local guide, hosting various synagogues, a museum and the Jewish cemetery. Enter the Old-New Synagogue of Prague.

Dinner with your group at a local restaurant.

DAY 7: PRAGUE – KRAKOW

Breakfast at the hotel with your group.

Spend the day traveling from Czech Republic to Poland. Enjoy the scenery and stop en route for lunch on your own.

Upon arrival in Krakow, check-in at your hotel.

Explore Krakow at your own pace, make sure to spend time in the Main Square.

Dinner with your group at a local restaurant.

DAY 8: KRAKOW

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel with your group.

Meet your local guide and enjoy a tour of Krakow. Begin with a guided visit of the Wawel Hill, the embodiment of Poland’s former monarchical glory, visit the Wawel Cathedral and its bells. Stroll along Kanonicza and Grodzka Streets to reach Collegium Maius, the oldest building of the Academia Cracoviensis. After visiting the charming Gothic courtyard, continue to the main Market Square. Visit at St. Mary’s Church, where the stunning medieval altar sculpted by Veit Stoss is located; a bugle call sounds towards the four corners of the world every hour on the hour.

Explore the Krakow Jewish Ghetto, which used to be inhabited by one of the most diverse Jewish communities in Europe before the Nazi program. See Ghetto Heroes Square, once the biggest open space in Krakow Ghetto and was at once the source of the residents’ greatest relief.

DAY 9: KRAKOW

Breakfast at the hotel with your group.

At Auschwitz-Birkenau partake in a a guided visit to the largest Nazi concentration camp where 1.5 million people of 28 different nationalities lost their lives. Today the site is a Museum and UNESCO World heritage site.

Return to Krakow.

Enjoy lunch on your own.

DAY 10: KRAKOW – HOME
