Visit Peru: Community Project

9 Days/8 Nights

 

DAY 1: FLY TO PERU

Board your flight and fly through the night to Peru.

DAY 2: CUSCO

Bienvenidos in Peru! Meet your Prométour Tour Director upon arrival.

Transfer to your hotel to drop off your luggage.

Have lunch at a local restaurant.

Guided walking tour of Cusco – See the Plaza de Armas & its Cathedral and Koricancha; a famous temple dedicated to the sun.

Visit the ruins around Puca Pucara (Red Fort).

See Tambomachay and its ceremonial water fountains, then see Qenqo – a temple and amphitheater and finally the famous fortress where Sacsayhuaman (Festival of Sun) occurs annually.

Dinner and overnight accommodation in Cusco.

DAY 3: SACRED VALLEY

Breakfast at the hotel.

Travel to the Sacred Valley.

Discover the Pisac Market – where you can buy ponchos, sweaters, and alpaca wool blankets.

Have lunch with your group in a local restaurant.

Explore the Ruins of Pisac – enjoy the view of the Urubamba Valley.

Continue to Ollantaytambo – the only village that has remained intact from the Inca era.

Explore the village and its ruins with a local guide.

Return to Cusco.

Dinner and overnight accommodation in Cusco.

DAY 4: MACHU PICCHU

Breakfast at the hotel.

Early transfer to the train station; excursion to the Machu Picchu.

Meet a local guide in Aguas Calientes and discover the fabulous archaeological site of Machu Picchu – It is a center of worship and astronomical observation but also the secret refuge of the Emperor Pachacutec.

Have lunch with your group in a local restaurant.

Spend some time exploring Machu Picchu on your own.

Board the train back to Cusco.

Dinner and overnight accommodation in Cusco.

DAY 5: MISMINAY

Breakfast at the hotel.

Travel to Misminay – a village located a the end of the sacred valley.

Visit Mullaka’s Misminay for a glimpse of Andean lifestyle – With members of the community, learn about ancestral Inca knowledge that is still being used today.

Partake in a weaving workshop – learn about traditional tools & coloring techniques.

Lunch with the community.

Then learn how the community harvests & grows their crops as we as how to prepare local herbs for medicinal purposes.

After dinner, prepared by your own personal chef, spend the night under a tent – spend some admiring the night sky!

DAY 6: MISMINAY – CUSCO

Breakfast with the community.

Participate in a Toy Making Project – Mixed with local youth, you must make a toy from recycled materials.

At the end of the day, several toys will be selected to be sent and entered in the international toy competition in association with Oxfam Québec.

Have lunch with the community.

In the afternoon – choose between a visit to a Youth Hospital to deliver gifts and toys or take part in an afternoon of sports students from a school.

Return to Cusco.

Dinner and overnight accommodation in Cusco.

DAY 7: CUSCO – PUNO

Breakfast at the hotel.

Travel to Puno.

You will pass through the Altiplano – look for llama & Alpaca.

Stop in the town of Andahuaylillas – boasting a 17th century church.

See the Racchi Ruins – The Temple of God Wiracocha.

Have lunch in a local restaurant on the way.

Stop at La Raya – located 4335 meters above sea level; take in the view of the Andes.

Dinner and overnight accommodation in Puno.

DAY 8: PUNO – LAKE TITICACA – PUNO

Breakfast at the hotel.

Start the day with a boat ride on Lake Titicaca – the highest navigable lake in the world.

Visit the floating islands of the Uros – made of totora reeds.

Have lunch with your group in a local restaurant.

See the Island of Taquile – covered with terraced fields.

Take some time to explore the Island on your own.

Board the boat and return to Puno.

Dinner and overnight accommodation in Puno.

DAY 9: PUNO – JULIACA – LIMA – FLY BACK HOME

Breakfast at the hotel.

Transfer to the Juliaca Airport – Board your domestic flight to Lima.

Have lunch in a local restaurant.

Guided walking tour of Lima – See Plaza Mayor & its Cathedral, the Santo Domingo Convent, Government Palace and City Hall.

Visit the Monastery of San Francisco – famous for its catacombs containing 70,000 graves.

Explore the popular Palaza San Martin.

Visit the modern district of Miraflores.

Dinner and transfer to the airport.

Board your flight from Lima and fly back home.
