Visit Ecuador: Wonders of the Amazon and Andes

DAY 1: FLY TO ECUADOR

Board your flight to Quito Bienvenidos a Ecuador! Meet your Prométour Tour Director upon arrival at the airport.

Board your bus and transfer to the hotel for check-in.

Have dinner with group.

Overnight in Quito.

DAY 2: QUITO

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel with your group.

Today explore Quito, the capital of Ecuador, it has one of the best-preserved and least altered historic center in Latin America. It has been declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site due to its rich history and artistic legacy.

Have lunch at a local restaurant.

This afternoon, visit the Middle of the World. Learn important facts about the Equator and confirm or dismiss related rumors that have fascinated people for centuries. Celebrate the ability to be in both hemispheres at the same time – a once in a lifetime experience!

Return to the hotel, for dinner and overnight.

DAY 3: QUITO – OTAVALO – QUITO

Have breakfast at the hotel with your group.

Board your bus and travel to the Ecuadorian Highlands. Explore Otavalo Town and visiting the local craft market. The Otavalos are a trader’s community by tradition, known worldwide for their wonderful work on textiles and tapestries.

Have lunch with your group.

Continue your journey and meet local artisans who will show you the ancient techniques used to create tapestries.

Learn about Andean music and how to play some of the most popular Andean musical instruments.

Return to Quito for dinner and overnight.

DAY 4: QUITO – PAPALLACTA

Breakfast at the hotel with your group.

Board your bus and enjoy spectacular Andean landscapes along the trails of the Antisana Ecological Reserve, located on the edge of Amazon and Andes national parks.

Then see the snow-capped Antisana Volcano, the fourth highest peak in Ecuador with an altitude of 18,890 feet.

Enjoy a picnic lunch in the area.

Continue to Papallacta, a peaceful and quiet town famous for its hot springs of volcanic origin.

Spend the rest of the afternoon at the thermal pools.

Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Papallacta.

DAY 5: PAPALLACTA – AHUANO

Breakfast at the hotel.

Descend from the eastern slopes of the Andes cordillera into the entrance of the Amazon basin.

Arrive at your hotel by lunchtime.

In the afternoon visit a local indigenous family to learn about several aspects of their traditional Amazon Quichua culture. Visit a ceramic factory where you will see the elaboration process of making pottery. You are invited to participate in the creation.

Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

DAY 6: AHUANO REGION

Enjoy an early breakfast at the hotel.

This morning, enjoy a hike that consists of a walk through primary and secondary forest trails, along which it is possible to observe distinct species of birds and insects! Along the trails, you may enjoy several opportunities for adventure, such as hanging bridges, and vines for swinging from tree to tree.

After lunch in the jungle, live the incredible experience of building and navigating a raft! On a small river island, your guide will show you how to tie balsa logs together, so those who wish can float down the Napo River for about an hour back to your hotel!

DAY 7: AHUANO REGION

Breakfast at the hotel with your group.

Board a dugout canoe, and navigate 20 minutes down the waters of the scenic Napo River. The destination is Cosano, a private reserve, where during approximately 2.5 to 3-hour hike through rainforest you will have the opportunity to see actual hunting traps which were traditionally used by the local natives in the past.

Lunch will be served on location.

This afternoon, visit the Amazoonico, a rescue center for wounded tropical rainforest animals. Enjoy a talk from local volunteers who will introduce you to the common dangers and threats faced by local animal species.

Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

DAY 8: AHUANO – QUITO

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel with your group.

Board your bus and return to Quito.

Have lunch en route in one of the local restaurants.

Enjoy a Chiva Ride to see Quito at night. Chivas are typical open buses with a live music band on board playing local music!

Enjoy farewell at a local restaurant.

Return to the hotel for overnight.

DAY 9: FLY BACK HOME

Breakfast at the hotel with your group.

Board your bus and transfer to the airport.

Say Hasta Luego to your Prométour Tour Director.

Board your flight from Quito and fly back home.
