Visit Costa Rica:  Cultural Tour

9 Days/8 Nights

DAY 1: HOME – COSTA RICA

Board your flight and fly to Costa Rica.

Bienvenidos a Costa Rica! Meet your Prométour Tour Director upon arrival at the airport.

Transfer to your host families in La Guacima de Alajuela, where locals speak only Spanish and families preserve the real tico lifestyle.

Upon arrival the Rancho de Espanol, take part in an orientation session with a welcome fruit cocktail. Then meet your host families as they welcome you to take you to their home to settle in.

Get to know each other over dinner followed by overnight accommodation.

DAY 2: EXCURSION TO SAN JOSE

Breakfast with your host families.

Your host family will accompany to the Rancho de Espanol

Board your bus and travel to San José, the capital of Costa Rica.

Follow you Tour Director on a discovery tour of the city. You’ll see Plaza de la Cultura, the Main Square and Plaza de Democracia.

Stop at the famous flea market where you can practice your Spanish by bargaining with local vendors.

Enjoy lunch with your host families.

This afternoon, partake in a cooking class. Learn how to cook like a Tico!

Then, show off your fancy footwork by taking part in a Tico dancing class.

Return to your host family for dinner followed by overnight accommodation.

DAY 3: LA GUACIMA

Breakfast with your host families.

Your host family will accompany to the Rancho de Espanol.

Make your way to Poas Volcano National Park, it is considered the largest active crater in the world with frequent gyser-like eruptions. You’ll also see Lake Botos which fills an extinct crater and is home to many cloud forest birds like hummingbirds and the quetzal.

Enjoy your lunch box carefully prepared by your host family.

Breathe in the aroma of freshly-roasted Arabica coffee beans at the Doka Coffee Plantation; learn about the coffee trees, the planting process, the water mill, processing plant and visit the roasting room.

Return to your host family for dinner followed by overnight accommodation.

DAY 4: EXCURSION TO SARAPIQUI

Breakfast with your host families.

Your host family will accompany to the Rancho de Espanol.

Drive to Sarapiqui.

People, communities, businesses and industries as well as governments from all countries are encouraged to add tree planting pledges online with the objective of planting at least one billion trees worldwide each year. Be part of it! Partake in a Reforestation Program with your group.

Enjoy a lunch box on site.

Partake in a chocolate process tour – learn how it plays an important role in the Costa Rican Culture.

Return to your host family for dinner followed by overnight accommodation.

DAY 5: LA GUACIMA

Breakfast with your host families.

Your host family will accompany to the Rancho de Espanol.

Explore La Paz Waterfall & Gardens; this amazing park offers visitors the opportunity to observe many different species of local wildlife such as; hummingbirds, bromeliad gardens, a serpentarium, a frog pond, 3.5 kilometers of walking trails, and of course, waterfalls.

Lunch with your group in a local restaurant.

Board your bus and embark on a discovery tour of the artistic town of Sarchi and watch the artisans at work as they create the unique and colorful Ox Carts!

Then continue onto Grecia, see the famous Nuestra Senora de las Mercedes Church! 

Return to your host family for dinner followed by overnight accommodation.

DAY 6: LA GUACIMA – MONTEVERDE

Breakfast with your host families.

Your host family will accompany to the Rancho de Espanol.

Board your motor coach and travel to Monteverde.

Lunch with your group in a local restaurant.

Explore Monteverde’s Could Forest; it includes eight distinct ecological zones that protect more than 400 species of birds and over 100 species of mammals.

Dinner and overnight accommodation in Monteverde.

DAY 7: MONTEVERDE – QUEPOS

Breakfast at the hotel with your group.

Embark on a Zip Lining adventure! About 70% of all life in a tropical forest takes place at the tree canopy level.

Discover the forest in an exhilarating way!

Lunch with your group in a local restaurant.

Board your motor coach and travel to Quepos.

Dinner and overnight accommodation in Quepos.

DAY 8: QUEPOS – MANUEL ANTONIO – LA GUACIMA

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel with your group.

Although it is Costa Rica’s smallest national park, the breath-taking beauty and diversity of wildlife is unequaled in Manuel Antonio.

Enjoy time at the beach and relax in this natural environment.

Lunch box provided for lunch.

Board your motor coach and return to la Guacima.

Enjoy some leisure time at the Rancho; there is a pool, a volleyball net and you can play soccer.

Dinner and overnight accommodation at El Rancho Lodge.

DAY 9: LA GUACIMA – HOME

Breakfast at the hotel with your group.

Transfer by motor coach from your hotel to the airport.

Say Hasta Luego to your  Prométour Tour Director.

Board your flight from San Jose and fly back home.
