April 1: Frankfurt & Heidelberg

Welcome to Germany!

Meet your Prométour Tour Director upon arrival at Frankfurt airport.

Embark on a discovery tour of the city of Frankfurt am Main. You’ll see the historic old city sites, Roemerberg and Kaiserdom, as well as the finance and banking district. The skyscrapers here are among the highest in Europe, which is the reason why the city has been given the nickname ”Mainhattan”.

Board your motor coach and continue on to Heidelberg, famous for its ruined castle, which was built, destroyed and partially restored over several centuries.

Have dinner with your group in a local restaurant.

April 2: Heidelberg & Baden-Baden

Breakfast at the hotel with your group. 

Board your motor coach and travel to Heidelberg, known for its distinguished 14th-century university.

With your Prometour Tour Director, explore Heidelberg – A city not only known for it’s prestigious university, but also to one of the most famous sights in Germany: Heidelberg Castle. After it’s destruction, it was only partially rebuilt and today, the castle ruins dominate the image of the old city. Discover the most beautiful parts of the picturesque old city and the secrets of the castle ruins.

Explore Heidelberg at your own pace, home to Germany’s oldest University and called by UNESCO, the ”City of Literature”. Wander the streets of the old town and stroll along the Old Bridge!

April 3: Strasbourg

Breakfast at the hotel.

Board your motor coach and travel to Freudenstadt. Drive along the famous ”Schwarzwaldhochstrasse” (Black Forest Overpass) and enjoy a beautiful view of the mountains and valleys.

Enjoy lunch on your own.

Stop at one of the several smokehouses in the region, where you’ll be introduced to the secrets of ham-smoking. You’ll obviously get to taste the original Black Forest ham!

Board your motor coach and continue on to Strasbourg, known for its Gothic Cathédrale Notre-Dame, featuring daily shows from its astronomical clock.

April 4: Freiburg

Breakfast at the hotel.

Board your motor coach and travel to Freiburg.

Visit the Black Forest Open Air Museum – find out how people lived and worked in Black Forest farmhouses during the last 400 years. You’ll see the many different faces of life in the Black Forest: its architecture, traditions, customs and trades, and the way people lived and farmed throughout the ages.

Enjoy a light lunch but first, you must learn how to churn your own butter! Guten Appetit!

Today, you will be let in on another one of the Black Forest secrets. You will learn how to make the Original Black Forest Cherry cake. You’ll of course get the chance to eat some of your delicious creation!

April 5: Kaiserstuhl

Breakfast at the hotel.

Today, take a day trip to the region of Kaiserstuhl. This low mountain range is situated between the Black Forest and the Vogesen mountains. It is bordered by the Rhine river and is the sunniest region in Germany. During this tour, you will enjoy the beautiful volcanic landscape, with it’s unique terraced vineyards. Since this region is dominated by wine, we can’t miss the opportunity to visit a wine cellar and experience local wine tasting. There will also be a hearty lunch with specialty cuisine from the region. Take the time for a walk through the beautiful vineyards.

Enjoy a guided walking tour of Freiburg in Breisgau, an internationally recognized university city. Your guide will take you to the Cathedral, along the ”Baechle” and to see historic houses and sights.

April 6: Black Forest – Triberg

Breakfast at the hotel.

Board your motor coach and travel to Triberg, in the heart of the Black Forest.

The Triberger Wasserfaelle are Germany’s highest waterfalls, which stretch over a total of 163 meters high in 7 steps. You’ll arrive at the falls via well-developed paths, stairs and footbridges and still have time to enjoy nature along the way.

Enjoy lunch on your own.

At the German Clock Museum, you will learn how the gorgeous cuckoo clocks are made during a short tour of museum. A 3h workshop is available, if you decide that you would like to create your own cuckoo clock (not included in tour price).

Enjoy some leisure time in Freiburg and discover the city at your own pace!

April 7: Black Forest – Breitnau 

Breakfast at the hotel.

Board your motor coach and travel to Breitnau, located within the High Black Forest.

Along with your local guide, embark on a hike along a country trail in the Breitnau region. This trail inspires you to explore and discover old black forest craftsmanship. The historic calble-car, the Großjockenhof mill and a glass-blower are only a few of the traditional businesses that you’ll pass along this country trail.

Enjoy lunch on your own.

Visit the Beekeeping museum, where you will learn about the significance of bees and how honey is produced. Of course, you’ll have the chance to try some honey and mead.

Tonight, enjoy a typical Black Forest dinner at your hotel!

April 8: The Sauschwaenzlebahn, Tuebingen & Stuttgart

Breakfast at the hotel.

Embark on a historic train ride through the beautiful countryside. ”The Sauschwaenzlebahn” is a train museum with historic steam locomotives and wagons. The route runs 25 kilometers from Weizen to Blumberg. It runs over four bridges and through six tunnels. Take in the beautiful views of the valleys, gorges and the Black Forest

Enjoy lunch on your own.

On a guided walking tour, discover the Swabian university city of Tuebingen. Explore the medieval town center with its half-timbered houses and the impressive market square with its picturesque Neckar front. Walk through the narrow streets and feel the flair of this young, cosmopolitan city.

April 9: Ludwigsburg & Frankfurt

Enter the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart – it celebrates the automobile invented by Carl Benz in 1886: it relates its history and tells its stories, bringing both alive by placing them in the context of technology, day-to-day life, social history and popular culture.

Visit the Ludwigsburg Residential Palace, one of the largest remaining original baroque buildings in Europe. During your guided tour, you will walk through two centuries of royal state rooms and learn several chambermaids’ secrets.

April 10: Travel back Home
