Visit Spain: Roman Spain History Tour

DAY 1: HOME – MADRID

Board your transatlantic flight and fly through the night to Spain.

DAY 2: MADRID

Bienvenido a España! Meet your Prométour Tour Director upon arrival at the airport.

Transfer to your hotel to drop off your luggage.

While in Madrid travel by walking and taking public transportation.

Take a stroll in Old Madrid with your Tour Director, you’ll see the famous Plaza Mayor, the Plaza de Espana, and the Debod Egyptian Temple, a remarkable 4th-century temple that was transferred stone by stone from Egypt.

Have some time to explore the city at your own pace.

Dinner at a local restaurant.

Overnight accommodation in Madrid.

DAY 3: MADRID – SALAMANCA

Breakfast at the hotel.

Board your bus and travel to Segovia.

With the help of a local guide learn about the Roman Aqueduct of Segovia; built in the 1st century AD to transport water from the Fuente Fria River to the city, its magnificent arches extend to almost 100 feet high.

Enjoy lunch on your own.

Board your bus and continue on to Salamanca.

Have time to explore Salamanca at your own pace; there is plenty to see and do!

Dinner at a local restaurant.

Overnight accommodation in Salamanca.

DAY 4: SALAMANCA – MERIDA

Breakfast at the hotel.

Enjoy a guided walking tour of Salamanca; start by  the University of Salamanca, founded in 1134 it is the oldest university in the Hispanic world. Continue your tour to see the Old and New Cathedral, as well as Plaza Mayor.

Enjoy lunch on your own.

Board your bus and travel to Merida, located in the heart of the Silver Route, it is heir to a splendid Roman past.

Dinner at a local restaurant.

DAY 5: MERIDA

Breakfast at the hotel.

Follow a local guide on a walking tour of Merida. The Roman legacy is still reflected in almost every little corner of town with the Roman Theatre being one of its most emblematic constructions. You’ll also see the Amphitheater, The Temple of Diana, the Arch of Trajan, the Roman Bridge, and the Aqueduct of Los Milagros.

Enjoy lunch on your own.

Visit the Merida National Museum of Art – Inside you will find objects from the time of Roman civilization, a vital period in the history of this city.

Dinner at a local restaurant.

Overnight accommodation in Merida.

DAY 6: MERIDA – SEVILLA

Breakfast at the hotel.

Board your bus and travel to Sevilla, the capital of southern Spain’s Andalusia region.

Enjoy lunch on your own.

With your Tour Director explore Sevilla. You’ll see the lovely Plaza de España, the Maria Luisa Park and, of course, the Seville Cathedral!

Hop on a boat to get a different view of the city from the Guadalquivir River.

Dinner at a local restaurant.

Overnight accommodation in Sevilla.

DAY 7: SEVILLA

Breakfast at the hotel.

This morning, board your bus and travel to Italica, the most important and largest Roman ruins in Spain.

Follow a local guide on a tour of the site, Italica is a wonderful example of Roman architecture, mosaic work, and city layouts.

Enjoy lunch on your own.

Board your bus and return to Sevilla.

Explore the Santa Cruz Quarter, which reflects the character of Sevilla’s romantic image. Walk its narrow and tortuous streets to keep out the sun and see its whitewashed houses.

Dinner at a local restaurant.

Overnight accommodation in Sevilla

DAY 8: SEVILLA – HOME

Breakfast at the hotel.

Transfer by bus to the airport.

Say a fond Hasta Luego to your Prométour Tour Director.

Board your transatlantic flight from Sevilla and fly back home.
