Visit Spain: Art & Architecture Tour

DAY 1: HOME – MADRID

Board your transatlantic flight and fly through the night to Spain.

DAY 2: MADRID

Bienvenido a España! Meet your Prométour Tour Director upon arrival at the airport.

Transfer to your hotel to drop off your luggage.

While in Madrid travel by walking and taking public transportation.

With your Tour Director, discover some of the sights of Madrid, such as the Metropolis and Plaza Cibeles, with a neo-classical complex of marble sculptures and fountains that have become an iconic symbol for the city of Madrid.

Enter the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia to see some of the impressive works of 20th-century Spanish artistic icons such as Dali & Miro and, of course, Pablo Picasso’s Guernica.

Dinner in a local restaurant.

Overnight accommodation in Madrid.

DAY 3: MADRID

Breakfast at the hotel.

Today is dedicated to the majestic monuments of Madrid and its art!

Start with a guided tour of the Museo Del Prado to learn about its hidden secrets while admiring masterpieces by Goya and Velázquez, among other world famous artists.

Enjoy lunch on your own at the famous Parque El Retiro, then head over to El Palacio Real for a tour that reveals the royal family’s exquisite collection of tapestries, porcelain, antique clocks, armor and artwork.

Have some leisure time at the Puerta Del Sol, one of the best known and busiest places in Madrid.

Dinner in a local restaurant.

Overnight accommodation in Madrid.

DAY 4: EXCURSION TO SALAMANCA & AVILA

Breakfast at the hotel.

Board your bus and head towards Salamanca.

Enjoy a guuided walking tour of Salamanca. Start by visiting the University of Salamanca, founded in 1134 it is the oldest university in the Hispanic world. You’ll also see the Old and New Cathedral as well as the Plaza Mayor.

Enjoy lunch on your own.

Continue on to Avila, a medieval city.

Walk along the Avila City Wall; it dates back to the middle ages, stretches 1.5 miles around the city and has nine gates that provides access to the city.

Enter the Avila Cathedral; built between the 12th and 18th centuries, it is considered to be the first Gothic cathedral of Spain.

Board your bus and return to Madrid.

Have dinner at a local restaurant.

Overnight accommodation in Madrid.

DAY 5: MADRID – BARCELONA

Breakfast at the hotel.

Transfer by bus to the train station.

Take the AVE – High Speed Train to Barcelona.

Transfer to your hotel to drop off your luggage.

Explore Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter. Found by the Cathedral, the area was once the early Roman city of Barcino. See the four columns from the Temple of Augustus which dates back to the first century BC.

Spend some time at the Picasso Museum, which is on the pilgrimage route of all modern art lovers.

Have dinner at a local restaurant.

DAY 6: BARCELONA

Breakfast at the hotel.

Meet your local guide and start a journey into the world of Antoni Gaudi, one of the world’s most imaginative architects. Start at Placa de Catalunya, make your along Passeig de Gracia to admire the facades of Casa Batlo and Casa Mila, continue to Park Guell, a dream-like art Nouveau extravaganza with its architectural elements.

Enjoy lunch on your own before entering Gaudi’s most famous and persistent work, the unfinished Sagrada Familia.

Discover the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys, Barcelona’s Olympic stadium. It was originally built in 1927 for the 1929 Barcelona World Exposition but was renovated in 1989 to function as the main stadium for the 1992 Summer Olympic games.

Have dinner at a local restaurant.

Head to the Magic Fountains of Montjuic to enjoy the show of light, music and dancing water.

DAY 7: EXCURSION TO FIGUERES

Breakfast at the hotel.

Board your bus and head out to Figueres for the day.

With your Prométour Tour Director explore the town of Figueres, birthplace of Savaldor Dali. See the Sant Ferran Castle and the Sant Pere Church.

Enjoy lunch on your own.

Enter the Dali Museum and enjoy the peculiar but highly accessible work of the Spanish artist Salvador Dalí.

Board your bus and return to Barcelona.

Dinner at a local restaurant.

Overnight accommodation in Barcelona.

DAY 8: BARCELONA

Breakfast at the hotel.

This morning participate in a ceramic workshop in the heart of the city.

Enjoy lunch on your own.

Enter the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya, located within the Palau Nacional and admire the outstanding collection of Romanesque paintings.

Head for La Rambla, the most famous street in Barcelona, for some free time.

Dinner at a local restaurant.

Overnight accommodation in Barcelona.

DAY 9: BARCELONA – HOME

Breakfast at the hotel.

Transfer by bus to the airport.
