Visit New Orleans: Classics Tour
4 Days/3 Nights
Day 1: Travel to New Orleans
Welcome to New Orleans! Meet your Prométour Tour Director upon arrival.
Follow your Tour Director on a walking tour of New Orleans. It is world-renowned for its music, cuisine, and unique dialect, as well as its celebrations and festivals – most notably Mardi Gras. The historic heart of the city is the French Quarter, known for its French and Spanish Creole architecture and vibrant nightlife.
Try “beignets” at Café du Monde, a New Orleans tradition since 1862; these square French-style doughnuts, lavishly covered with powdered sugar go great with their Coffee and Chicory Au Lait brew.
Enjoy an authentic Cajun dinner in a local restaurant.
Overnight accommodation in New Orleans.
Day 2: New Orleans
Breakfast at the hotel.
Sit back and enjoy a swamp tour with a local captain. See alligators, turtles, raccoons, snakes fish and birds. If you’re lucky, you might see deer and wild boar. You’ll even see baby alligators!
Enjoy a Po-Boy sandwich; said to be created during a 1929 Streetcar Union strike when a local restaurant offered free-of-charge sandwiches to the streetcar operators, calling them the “poor boys“.
Visit the Whitney Plantation and gain a unique perspective of the lives of Louisiana’s enslaved people, through museum exhibits, memorial artwork, restored buildings, and hundreds of personal narratives.
Dinner in a local restaurant. On the menu is traditional Cajun Jambalaya!
Overnight accommodation in New Orleans.
Day 3: New Orleans
Breakfast at the hotel.
Learn about the art of Creole Cuisine with a cooking demonstration followed by lunch.
Discover the history and traditions of Carnival Mardi Gras with a guided tour of Mardi Gras World. Walk among towering figures of fantasy, and see masters of Carnival sculpture and float building in action.
Drive through New Orleans’ beautiful Garden District to get to Audubon Park, a sprawling 19th century park with ancient live oaks, an aquarium, a zoo, walking paths, a golf course, and picnic areas.
Have dinner with your group in a local restaurant, then after dusk has fallen in New Orleans, and the children have been put to sleep, the only people still wandering the streets of The French Quarter are the brave . . . and the restless spirits of the dead. Join them if you dare on a spooky ghost tour.
