July 17: Arrive in Portugal

Plan to arrive in Lisbon and make your way to the centrally located hotel in Lisbon. A private transfer can be arranged (extra charge). The rest of the day is at leisure.

July 18: Lisbon (B/L/D)

Enjoy breakfast and meet your Prométour Tour Director at the hotel.

Enjoy your walking adventure of Lisbon, starting with the old quarter of Alfama with it’s cathedral. Then, head to ”Baixa”, where you’ll see the Praça do Comércio and the Belém District. Enter the Jeronimos Monastery. On your tour, you’ll also get to see the Monument of Discoveries and the Belém Tower.

Have lunch with your group in a local restaurant.

Drive along the river to discover the Parque das Naçoes, the site of the 1998 Lisbon World Exposition.

Enjoy some free time to continue your discovery of Lisbon: Explore the Roman and Moorish ruins, cathedrals and grand plazas. Be sure to stop at one of the delicious and quaint cafes that line the old town streets.

Have dinner with your group in a local restaurant.

July 19: Lisbon (B/D)

Breakfast at the hotel, and enjoy free time while you spend the day exploring Lisbon at your own pace! Portugal’s hilly capital, is a coastal city located in the west.

July 20: Évora (B/D)

Breakfast at the hotel.

Board your motor coach and travel to Arraiolos, known for its carpets, made from wool embroidered in cross-stitch on a linen or a hemp canvas.

Enjoy a guided visit of a carpet factory and learn all about the process of how they make these beautiful pieces of art.

Enjoy lunch on your own.

Continue to Évora, one of Portugal’s oldest and most enchanting cities and classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Located West of Monsaraz, Évora is the capital of Alentejo. The city has many monuments which are evidence of its rich and eventful past; the Roman Temple, monastery, palace and churches. Outside of the city walls, you will come across impressive menhirs and cromlechs – the perfect opportunity for a picturesque photo opp! Not to be missed during your visit in town is the Évora cathedral, Sao Francisco church, the chapel of Bones, the Monastery of Loios, Praça de Giraldo and the Temple of Diana.

Visit one of the wine production farm in the Alentejo region, followed by a visit of its winery to see first-hand the way that their delicious wine is made. Finally, this winery visit would not be complete without a tasting of their products!

July 21: Castelo Branco (B/D)

Breakfast at the hotel.

Travel to Marvao, a walled medieval village located in the Alentejo region.

With your Prométour Tour Director, embark on a discovery tour of the city of Marvao, where you’ll get to get a greater view of the city from up to, in Marvao’s castle.

Travel to Castelo de Vide, a typical Alentejo village with small white houses, winding streets and flowers everywhere.

Enjoy lunch on your own.

Enjoy some leisure time in Castelo de Vide to discover the city at your own pace!

Travel to Castelo Branco, which means ”white castle” in Portuguese.

With your Prométour Tour Director, set out on a discovery tour of Castelo Branco, where you can see the garden of the Episcopal Palace, an emblem of the city and example of Portuguese baroque.

Have dinner with your group in a local restaurant.

July 22: Viseu (B/D)

Breakfast at the hotel.

Travel to Trancoso, home to a frontier land, which held various wars and important battles.

With your Prométour Tour Director, discover the city of Trancoso. To this day, the city is still surrounded by walls, which was to protect its medieval castle.

Travel to Linhares da Beira, a medieval village from the 12th Century.

Enjoy lunch on your own.

Enjoy some leisure time in Linhares da Beira and take the time to admire its unique architectural diversity. Fun fact: Linhares is also known as the capital of paragliding in Portugal.

Travel to Viseu, which stands on a plateau, surrounded by a chain of mountains and rivers.

Enjoy some leisure time in Viseu to discover the city at your own pace.

Have dinner with your group in a local restaurant.

July 23: Guimarães (B/D)

Breakfast at the hotel.

Travel to Vila Real, home to one of the most beautiful baroque palace in Portugal.

With your Prométour Tour Director, discover the city of Vila Real where you’ll get to see House of Mateus and it’s gardens.

Travel to Amarante, a charming town that stands on either side of the Tamega River.

Enjoy lunch on your own.

Enjoy some leisure time in Amarante to discover the city at your own pace.

Board your motor coach and continue on to Guimarães , known for its proud castle and well-preserved medieval quarter.

With your Prométour Tour Director, walk around the town of Guimarães , considered as the cradle of Portugal. Associated with the formation and identity of Portugal, the historic center of Guimaraes located within the walls has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, based on the values of originality and authenticity that have guided its renovation.

Have dinner with your group in a local restaurant.

July 24: Braga & Porto (B/L/D)

Breakfast at the hotel.

Board your motor coach and travel to Braga, a sleepy, ancient city, but also brimming with a modern, youthful energy.

With your Prométour Tour Director, discover the city of Braga. It is one of the oldest Christian cities in the world with a vast religious heritage, as are the sanctuaries that make up the triangle of faith: the Sanctuaries of Bom Jesus and Sameiro.

Have lunch with your group in a local restaurant.

Board your motor coach and continue on to Porto, a coastal city in northwest Portugal known for its stately bridges and Port wine production.

Visit one of Porto’s winery to learn how Porto wine is made. Finally, finish off the visit with a tasting of their products!

Have dinner with your group in a local restaurant.

July 25: Travel back Home (B)

Breakfast at the hotel.

Transfer by motor coach from your hotel to the airport. A private transfer can also be arranged in advance, with a supplement.
