Bucket List Costa Rica – 10 Days

Day 1: Travel to Costa Rica

Bienvenidos a Costa Rica! Meet your Costa Rican Prométour Tour Director upon arrival at the airport.

Enjoy some leisure time at the Rancho; there is a pool, a volleyball net, you can play soccer or go for a walk around town!

Dinner and overnight accommodation at El Rancho Lodge.

Day 2: La Guacima

Breakfast at the hotel.

Make your way to Poas Volcano National Park; Poas Volcano is considered the largest active crater in the world at about 1.6 km wide and 320 meters deep, with frequent gyser-like eruptions and Lake Botos fills an extinct crater and is home to many cloud forest birds like hummingbirds, tanagers and the quetzal.

At Doka Coffee Plantation breathe in the aroma of freshly-roasted Arabica coffee beans and enjoy lunch on site. The tour of the plantation begins at the seedbed, where visitors learn about the farm’s history, the coffee trees and the planting process and if the plants’ fruit is ripe, guests can pick a few coffee berries before visiting the water mill, processing plant and the roasting room.

Day 3: Tortuguero

Breakfast at the hotel.

Transfer by motor coach & boat to Tortuguero, “Place of Turtles”; located along the Caribbean coast this area is the second largest green sea turtle nesting beach in the world.

Lunch with your group in a local restaurant.

Have a visit of the Tortuguero Village & Sea Turtle Conservancy Museum; The village has no cars or streets and nature is literally bursting into town! See the long, straight 22 mile stretch of beach which is a favored nesting ground for sea turtles and learn more about the different species of sea turtles that nest and lay their eggs on the beaches of Tortuguero.

Day 4: Tortuguero

Breakfast at the hotel.

Embark on a 3-hour boat tour of the most famous Canals of Tortuguero; keep your camera ready, there is plenty of wildlife to be spotted.

Lunch with your group in a local restaurant.

70% of life in the tropical forest takes place at the tree canopy level – Enjoy a zip line tour and fly through the forest from platform to platform built on 60 to 90 foot trees and sense the thrill first hand.

Day 5: Sarapiqui

Experience a spectacular nocturnal walk through the Tirimbina Rainforest Center to witness wildlife that is seldom seen during the day.

Day 6: Sarapiqui & Arenal

Breakfast at the hotel.

Board your motor coach and travel to Mount Arenal, which was considered dormant for over 400 years until it erupted in 1968 Be greeted with a warm “kapi kai” welcome at the Malekus Indigenous Tribe Reserve; learn about their unique language, their customs and the medicinal plants they use, followed by lunch on site and then make your own tribal mask with the help of the community.

At the Ecotermales Hot Springs experience the rejuvenating and therapeutic properties of thermal waters rich in minerals and naturally heated by the volcanic activity of Mount Arenal.

Dinner and overnight accommodation in Arenal.

Day 7: Arenal & Puntarenas

Breakfast at the hotel.

Enjoy the Arenal Hanging Bridges Tour. The tour consists of 3 miles of trails designed for easy access, crossing 15 bridges with lengths ranging from 5 to 100 meters.

Partake in a Sloth Tour, it will bring you up close and personal with some of Costa Rica’s most-adorable, furry critters as they simply hang out at along the treetops near the Arenal Volcano.

Board your motor coach and travel to Puntarenas, a port town on Costa Rica’s Gulf of Nicoya.

Day 8: Puntarenas

Breakfast at the hotel.

Transfer by bus to the marina and board your catamaran for a full day on Isla Tortuga to enjoy the white sand beach & clear blue water.

Lunch will be at the beach with your group.

Dinner and overnight in Puntarenas.

Day 9: Sarchi & San Jose

Breakfast at the hotel.

Board your motor coach and travel to Sarchi, famous for its arts & crafts.

Follow your Prometour Tour Director on a discovery tour of the artistic town of Sarchi and watch the artisans at work as they create the unique and colorful Ox Carts that this town is famous for.

Lunch with your group in a local restaurant.

Board your motor coach and travel to San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica.

On a guided city tour of San Jose, see some of the most popular attractions such as; Plaza de la Cultura (the Main Square) and Plaza de Democracia (the famous flea market) where you can practice your Spanish by bargaining with local vendors.

Enjoy the magnificent view and an authentic traditional Costa Rican folkloric dinner show at Restaurant Mirador Tiquicia.

Overnight accommodation at El Rancho Lodge.

Day 10: Travel back Home

Breakfast at the hotel.

Transfer by motor coach from your hotel to the airport.
